Green Circle organises second plastic removal drive!

  43 volunteers team led by Prof Sekar from Presidency University participated in a plastic removal campaign at Avalahalli lake organised by Green Circle Yelahanka. The students removed 100s of posters shabbily displayed on the lake fence. Panchayat development office Singanayakkanhalli provided a truck to collect the waste materials. Green Circle members Selvarajan, Kumar Kalyandurg and Rashmi Kulkarni also participated in the drive. ‘I am very interested to do social services in present situation. I am happy to lead the team and also to clean the lake area’ says Sushmita, a volunteer from Presidency University who is doing her BTech. Another student, G Bharghav added ‘We enjoyed lot by doing voluntary work and learnt that we should use less plastic and if it is used we should not throw here and there. Its an amazing experience in NSS activity as volunteer’ Green Circle member Kumar Kalyandurg said, ‘This is the second plastic removal drive we have done this season. In the first drive 27 hotel management students from Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences participated. In the second drive, 43 students from Presidency University participated. The purpose of this drive was to create awareness among students and residents about the need to keep the surrounding plastic free. Students also removed the shabby posters fixed to the fence of the Avalahalli lake’
