Green circle launches 1000 trees project in Bangalore!

Mission Green Yelahanka was inaugurated by MLA of Yelahanka, S R Viswanath, by planting a tree. The project to plant 1000 trees as part of the greening venture, Green Circle volunteers planted 120 trees in the first phase called AKSHAYA. The project will be carried out in 4 stages called Akshaya, Arivu, Ashraya and Aiswarya. The project was conducted in association with BBMP, Forest Division, Yelahanka. Singanayakkanhalli Gram Panchayat also supported the drive. Lauding the efforts of Green Circle, MLA said, “massive plantation is needed to save the environment as urbanisation is faster nowadays” 50 Volunteers from Presidency University and BMSSA joined the plantation drive. Members from Prestige Royale Gardens, Vajram Tiara, Shriram Sahaana, Zed woods, Romky One North, M S Ramaiah North East County, BEL and Avalahalli village, Singanayakkanhalli also participated. Ramachandra from MS Ramaiah NE County says, “Our layout has plenty of park area developed by Bangalore Development Authority. Now we will plant 1000 trees from Doddaballapura Road to Krishna Sagara Lake with the help of multiple authorities. We all have joined the Greening movement by Green Circle”

 The Asst Conservator of Forest, BBMP Forest division said, ‘we are happy that the residents have taken initiative to plant trees. BBMP will provide sufficient saplings for this venture.  The tree planting is more essential when lot of developmental works are happening.” Panchayat Development Officer Ashwini assured of water supply regularly to maintain the planted saplings. Jennifer from Sriram Sahanna apartment said, ‘first time we feel that such collective work is happening in our area to plant trees. We want to save our environment’. Vasanthakumar added, ‘Virabatrappa, Rashmi Kulkarni and I were visiting regularly from nearby apartments to level the soil. Virabatrappa adds, ‘I am not able to believe that this land could be restored so quickly, thanks to Green Circle. We were hiring the JCB services for 3 full days to remove the bushes and weeds that have grown more than 7 feet.’

Thanking all societies, BBMP and Gram Panchayati Singanayakkanhalli, V Selvarajan, Chairman of Green Circle Bangalore said, ‘but for the support of our MLA Sr Vishwanath, PDO Singanayakkanhalli, RFO BBMP Chandrappa and ACF Prakash, it would not have been possible. We have planted about 200 plants. We have targeted 1000 saplings. We will be watering the plants at regular intervals and ensure that we have cent percent growth”
